- Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “An Umrah to another Umrah will be redemption of sins for whatever (minor) occurs between them.” Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Umrah performed in the month of Ramadan will equal (in rewards) to that of Hajj or Hajj performed with me (peace be upon him).”

Amr bin Shu’aib, narrating from his father, who in turn narrates from his grandfather (RA), reports that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Those performing Hajj and Umrah are the honored representatives of Allah. I swear by Allah, whenever someone says ‘Allahu Akbar’ on a plain land or ‘Laa Ilaaha Illallah’ on an elevated ground, the grains of sand in front of them echo the same words.” This narration is found in Baihaqi’s collection.
Umar bin Khattab reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Sequencing Hajj and Umrah enhances longevity, alleviates poverty, and purifies sins just as fire purifies impurities.” This narration is documented in Baihaqi’s compilation.
Anas bin Maalik (RA) conveyed that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Those undertaking the pilgrimage and performing Umrah are the honored emissaries of Allah. He grants their requests, answers their prayers, and rewards them abundantly for their expenditures. Every Dirham spent in this endeavor will be multiplied a thousandfold.” This narration is recorded in Baihaqi’s compilation.
Aisha (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Anyone who sets out from their home solely for the intention of Hajj or Umrah, and then passes away, will face neither judgment nor accountability on the Day of Reckoning. Instead, they will be ushered directly into Paradise.” This narration is documented in Tabraani and Baihaqi’s collections.
Abu Dawood includes several narrations about the virtues of Umrah.
The Prophet (SAW) intended to perform Hajj. Upon learning this, a woman urged her husband to take her along with the Prophet (SAW). Her husband replied, ‘I don’t have a means of transport to take you.’ She insisted, ‘Take me on one of your camels.’ The husband explained, ‘That camel is dedicated for the cause of Allah.’ He then approached the Prophet (SAW) and conveyed his wife’s greetings, mentioning her desire to accompany him on Hajj. He explained his predicament regarding transportation. The Prophet (SAW) responded, ‘If you take her on that camel for Hajj, it will still be considered in the path of Allah.’ Additionally, she asked, ‘What equals performing Hajj with you, O Messenger of Allah?’ The Prophet (SAW) replied,
Convey my greetings to her and inform her that Umrah performed in the month of Ramadhaan is equal to Hajj performed with me. – Abu DawoodUmme Ma’qal (RA) recounted, “O Messenger of Allah, I am elderly and frail. Is there any deed I can perform that would substitute for my Hajj?” The Prophet (SAW) replied, “Performing Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj.” This narration is found in Abu Dawood and Tirmidhi’s collections.

Ibne Mas’ood (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Persist in performing Hajj and Umrah, for they indeed cleanse one of poverty and sins just as fire purifies iron, gold, and silver.” This narration is documented in Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzaimah, and Ibn Hibban’s compilations.
Abu Hurairah (RA) relates that the Prophet (SAW) said, “For the elderly, weak, and women, their Jihad is in performing Hajj and Umrah.” This narration is recorded in Nasaai’s collection.
Umar bin ‘Abasa (RA) narrates that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Two deeds are among the most virtuous, unless performed insincerely: an accepted Hajj and an accepted Umrah.”
Ibne Umar (RA) reports that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Those who strive in the path of Allah, the pilgrims, and those performing Umrah are all emissaries of Allah. They answered His call, and He will grant them their requests for His blessings.” This narration is found in Ibn Majah and Ibn Hibban’s collections.
Ibne Abbas (RA) relates that Ummu Sulaim (RA) approached the Prophet (SAW) saying, “Abu Talha and his son have both gone for Hajj, leaving me behind.” The Prophet (SAW) responded, “O Ummu Sulaim, performing Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj with me.” This narration is recorded in Ibn Hibban’s collection.
